After missing out on the New Zealand launch of the CFMOTO 450MT, I finally grabbed the keys to one of the hottest new adventure bikes on the market. These are my first impressions of the bike - a more in-depth review will follow. Any questions you have drop them down in the comments below.
Harley-Davidson's X 350 | Premium price - cheap feel
Переглядів 16321 день тому
Harley's X 350 was recently in the garage for a two week test - and the closer I looked the more I felt it was rather disappointing.
YOU CAN DO BETTER | A Harley-Davidson X 350 Review
Переглядів 19521 день тому
It's easy to pick on Harley-Davidson, for many want the crown of the most famous name in the game. But sometimes even the greats drop a dud and that is sadly the conclusion I came to on the X 350 which entered the most cutthroat segment in motorcycling in Australasia. Sadly for Harley, the X 350 falls short in the class due to poor quality compared to its peers, a lack of tech and a price point...

2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Street Glide | First impressions review
Переглядів 153Місяць тому
We hit the sunny roads and warm temps of the Gold Coast to try out Harley-Davidson's new $50,495 Road Glide and Street Glide touring motorcycles. Yep, that's a LOT of money, but they're also a lot of bike. Is it a good tradeoff?
Is traditional moto media dying?

Once again I found myself on a motorcycle launch with [diplomatic voice] much older moto journos, and it got me thinking - is the traditional moto media literally dying? Keen to know your thoughts in the comments below.

new KLE 500 :)
I briefly had a similar thought!
The best thing is the sound. They sound amazing
Hi mate what adapter was necessary for the cardo system
Hey, @@CStewart-u2i. I used the supplied Cardo stick on one and positioned it to fit
Think this is the bike for me :D Only thing is that the cranckshaft of the ktm engine. I saw some owners of the 790cc ktm bikes haveing complete fail of the crankshaft at 13 000 miles..interesting. I am thinking of an transalp 1987 or this one..what would be the best choice ? :D...Nice review !!!
its a very nice bike and a good price. On the other hand the T7 is 205kg wet, so some 10kg heavier. I would consider the T7 the more interesting bike but it comes with a much higher pricetag. if you are looking for a ore ofroad oriented bike, try the Kove 450, that is 50HP (in europe 40) and a wet weight of 165kg, but it is a bumper
@@ruedigerfriebel8454 sadly Kove aren’t available in New Zealand otherwise I’d be dead keen to give one a go
this is my next bike next year !!
mine leaks from putting on a 13 is that normal?
@@Leanedback450 leaks what? Leaking anything isn’t ideal, especially from around the counter shaft area
@@OnThrottle so I put a front 13t sprocket and it leaked and at the service at dealership said cause it’s too much power so it leaks from the countershaft. I put the old one back on still leaking I like the 13 because I wheelie and stunt
I am interested to see how long it takes before these engines explode, the frames crack, the electronics fry, the lights steam up, the rims fail. If these bikes survive, I shall surely buy one. Chinese made or not ! If they pass the self destruct phase, they have hit the jackpot.
Yeah long term reliability is sadly something I can’t test over a short loan. The 800MT has proven reliable and I’ve heard nothing about the 450SR the engine comes from being dodgy so hopefully it’ll last. Time will tell. Nothing wrecks bikes fast like ADV riding.
@@OnThrottle Thanks for the reply, yes your right, nothing like off-road riding to knacker a bike!
Is this a KTM review?
Well if GasGas are the red KTM and Husqvarna is the white KTM, I guess you could call CFMOTO the blue KTM 🤷♂️
@@OnThrottle or ktm the orange cfmoto. lol
Great review I like the way this bike is designed to have crash bars fitted and accessories seem to be quite cheap.
While i think it's a great package, that screen, with all that scaffolding, would annoy me. That, and that silly place, beneath the bike, if you need to adjust the seat. That being said, i think this bike, is well within the Goldylocks zone, and will meet, the expectations of many early entry adventure riders, in to this category. Bloody nice look thing too😀
Competition is good for dual sports, Lets see what the japs respond with.
Been looking at buying this or the Himalayan. Himalayan seems second rate compared to this. Switch gear on the Himalayan is mushy. This bike sounds awesome 💪🏽
Ride both. They each have their pros and cons.
seems like everyone and their mother has one of these😁
Just the usual bike gets released and everyone makes content while the going is good 👍
Very good looking bike! 👍👍👍
Good job man, great review! 👍
I’ve not seen spoked wheels laced to the outside of the rim like that..
@@scottaubrey8392 they’re a tubeless design. Similar to what you see on bikes like the flagship GS and other higher end bikes in the segment.
@@OnThrottle or even the little old Zontes 125 U1 , at £3,200 !
It’s a BMW thing - well they did it first so tubeless tires can be used on a spoked wheel. This alone is a massive reason for buying this bike.
Moto Guzzi V85 TT has had tubeless wheels like those since 21/22 models, I believe!
Triumph tiger has those wheel/spoke design too
Why are you always on-offing the throttle? Modulate the power, as handfisted is never impress, even when racing. Did you take some pressure out of the tyres on that gravel? Maybe...
@@grahamrowe6278 because I was having FUN mate ;) And no, there’s no need to drop tyre pressure on gravel like that.
Haha how dare you have fun, and not take pressure out of the tyres. You’ve upset Graham now.
@@florme6494 Maybe Graham need some fresh crumpet.😅
Great honest review . Thanks
height and inside leg?
175cm overall. You’d need to ask my wife a personal question like my inside leg 😏
I picked mine up on Saturday and just want to get back out on it again. I'm thinking about riding it to work just so I can ride it again.
You live in some damn nice surroundings, my friend. I just bought one of these a month ago, i fkng love it
Thanks mate. Definitely not many regrets moving down here from the big city. Enjoy the bike! They really are something else.
@OnThrottle I just moved out to the country myself a couple of years ago. Life is so different from the city. It's like being on another planet lol. Anyway.. enjoy. 🙂👍
Крутий байк, чекаємо їх в Україні. Буде чудова заміна KTM 390 Adventure.
Yes it will. I find it incredible that ktm shelved this engine apparently.
Nice, how tall are you?
@@MtbPoland 176cm on a good day 😎
@@OnThrottle thank you
Had mine for about a month now and still loving it, such a fun bike without the big weight feel. 😊
Nice review! We are waiting for our ones. We we there few weeks ago with our big adv's, got chased by a farm dog. Lol! Okupata Road have some nice scenic views.
I'm not a guy that normally watches reviews. But that was 1 of the best videos I've ever seen. 🤣 I was thinking for getting a 500x. I'll definitely be watching a review on that, hopefully it's a better bike. Thank You
@motonz has a review in the 500X coming. I’m choosing to not ride it after this disappointment
@OnThrottle you were like a old school father, and the bike, a terrible son 😅😅🤣😅😅😅😅
CFMOTO South Africa reckons they'll be available only in the last quarter of 2024 over here. I am starting to like this bike more and more every time I watch a video about it. It certainly looks the part and the exaust note sounds fabulous. Hopefully it will prove to be relatively reliable as well further down the line. I believe the wet weight is about 190kg?
Claimed dry weight is 175kg, so it is around there. 17.5 litres of fuel, couple of litres of oils, battery etc would put it around that 195-200kg mark. It looks substantial, especially from behind the bars with the tank fearing out in front of you but the narrow subframe means I can flat foot it with both feet. It’s quite easy to manage. I’ve not tried to put it on the ground and pick it up though 😅
Q país es, y el lugar. Xq se ve muy bonito.

I really want to see this on the highway!!
Have recorded this for you. While you wait though - at 110kph indicated it sits at 6500rpm. Could possibly do with a gearing tweak if lots of highway is on the cards
Holy Hick!
MT450 🎯💯💪
I’m currently saving for this bike, and I’ve recently read that they have some fuel relay and fuel pump issues. I’m just wondering what issues I should know about and start familiarizing myself with so it’ll be easy to manage. Thank you for any help and information
Sorry mate other than the well documented relay thing (easy to swap the relays for higher quality ones I hear) I am not familiar with anything else of note. I only had this bike for a couple of weeks to test and really enjoyed it.
Would love to hear you talk about stability of this bike on open road especially in Kiwi cross winds (which for non NZers can come out of nowhere and hit you). If the bike is top heavy or not. And also if the bike revs its guts out on the highway.
Thanks. So far I can say at 100kph it doesn’t rev its guts out and it’s a pretty smooth engine.
They run at 6000rpm at 100kmh I believe, plenty here in Australia are running higher gearing to drop the revs on the open road a bit.
Hi, great review. NV Motorcycles in Morrinsville has the new Triumph GT Storm as a demo. It would be awesome to see you do a review of this bike. Always enjoy watching your reviews. 👍
Thanks mate. I’ll see if Shane wouldn’t mind me borrowing it for a quick spin, otherwise I might need to see if Triumoh nz has one.
I think CF Moto have out done themselves here, awesome looking bit of kit! My question would be one of long term reliability, something you can't do in just a couple of weeks.
Yeah I’m really impressed so far. Possibly reinforced by the disappointment of the last bike that came through the garage
The engine has decent history in the road bike I believe. I’ve seen a few reports of typical Chinese stuff like bolts made from licorice, final assembly not being done real well, etc etc nothing really major.
yep issue for me was in the assembly, could've been more strict on that same as dealers.
Mate of mine in Toowoomba has just picked one up and he seems to really like it. He’s been posting endless videos on his channel (outie555)
For me I have my crf250l the first version 2013 with all the upgrades ejk tuner kit, acerbis plastic tank, fmf megabomb exhaust pipe, YSS rear shock and 14 - 45 sprocket combination were all good and I am very satisfied with the performance. With the 300L having a slipper clutch is a dis advantage with my colleague feedback the slipper clutch will become a clutch slipping so they replaced it with the conventional clutch assembly of the old 250L.
Did cut the scene approaching a stop sign because you didn't stop?
lol nah nothing that exciting. My Cardo Packtalk Edge switched the radio on with me asking (weirdly common fault) and I had to stop and tell it “hey Cardo, radio off”. Kinda ruined the flow of things a bit.
The most powerful Harley to date and you don’t like it???
I like the $50,490 Road Glide better 😎
@@OnThrottle I have a funny feeling you won’t be offered one any time soon! I think they’ve got the styling of the X 350 right but watching your full review, that might be the only thing.
@markwalker5984 I was lucky enough to ride the 2024 Road Glide (and Street Glide) in Aussie on the launch. Pricy, but you get a great motorcycle at the end of the day if that’s your kind of touring bike.
Yep / get a Honda... perfect for the waikato or wherever... cb 500 / cbr 500 / never let you down...
Yep there are plenty of amazing options in the sub-500cc space these days. That said, according to Newshub Honda just recalled a bunch of bikes for glue failing on the left grip as well. Probably the same glue H-D used here!
@@OnThrottle quality control Ain't what it used to be...
@relativetruth8889 or maybe we simply expect more in 2024?
Nice one bro. Glad you were just straight up with this one as I think for the people who might be potentially looking at these new Harleys, this particular segment nowadays is so incredibly competitive. Especially on the used market. Much respect!
Thanks. Yeah you can’t half arse a LAMS bike anymore. You especially can’t over charge and underdeliver like H-d is currently doing. Honestly I had to be convinced to release this one. I don’t like going negative
I share your feelings on the 650 engine and its 180* crank: it’s docile around town (assuming good fueling), but fun to wind the snot out of! I like its revvy midrange punch and intake snort, and it’s nice to have an alternative to the pile of 270* cranks sprouting everywhere. I’m a Versys owner looking seriously at this bike. I love the Versys 650 platform; I just wish it was better suited to gravel roads and looked less like an alien space bug. I guess it’s a conventional WRX vs a Saaburu.
It still blows my mind that Kawasaki has made no attempt to fill that gap in their lineup at all. Yes, they’ve got the KLR, but it is a big dirt bike and lacks the on road manners of bikes like this and the Versys. The Versys-X 300 does do a similar job but how is it still rocking the 300cc engine when the Ninja is now a 500?? Multiple missed opportunities to cash in on the ADV craze IMO.
It is a big miss from Kawasaki. I’d love to see a back-to-back comparison of these two bikes (Versys and X-Cape), especially of their road manners. Did you find that the engine smoothed out or opened up after the break-in period? I test rode a Morini 650 SCR and the engine felt a little tight and jittery.
@@ashermil yeah it noticeably got better over time.
Give the Triumph the fork legs from the Harley instead of those awful golden ones, and you would have a very attractive bike.
Triumph all the way
The Indian Harley x440 made with Hero Motocorps was atleast a new bike compared to the Chinese one which seems to be a rebadged model.
honestly the 'harley' looks like a generic chinese bike with a Harley logo edit: no wonder it looks familiar, its a rebadged QJMotor SRK350 (250 where I live) & the headlight is from the SRV250
They made one in India too. But it's a completely new bike.
Buy the original Benelli version instead of the pretend Harley, and save a bunch of money
I have the same bike with me for 3 months. It’s a great bike for on and off road experience.
If they can take few more design cues for harley 440, it will be great
